California hunters planning for the upcoming season have another reason to check their Hunterizer app. Following recent action by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Hunterizer has updated its California hunting database with the newly released 2026–2027 seasons and regulations for waterfowl, upland game birds, small mammals and furbearers.
The update builds on Hunterizer’s earlier release of California’s 2026–2027 big game seasons, including deer, elk, pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep and black bear.

New After-Harvest Requirement Guidance
One of the most requested Hunterizer features is now available for California species. The app now includes species-specific after-harvest requirements and transportation rules, helping hunters understand what must be done after a successful hunt.
Examples include:
- Black bear tooth collection and submission requirements.
- Tag validation and reporting requirements for species such as deer, bear and wild pig.
- Wanton waste provisions requiring edible portions to be properly utilized.
- Transportation requirements for migratory and upland game birds, including rules requiring the head or one fully feathered wing to remain attached to harvested birds while being transported from the field to a hunter’s home or other final destination.
- Species-specific possession and tagging requirements where applicable.
The goal is to help hunters stay compliant not only while hunting, but also after the harvest.
Zone Maps Added for All California Species
Hunterizer has also expanded its mapping capabilities with the addition of species-specific zone maps throughout California.
Hunters can now view zones for deer, bear, elk, waterfowl, quail, and other species-specific hunting areas directly within the app. The mapping tools are designed to make it easier to understand where a season applies and which regulations govern a particular location.
What Can I Hunt Today?
California hunters can continue using Hunterizer’s popular “What Can I Hunt Today?” feature, which allows users to select any date and location in the state and instantly see which hunting seasons are open at that location.
Combined with season dates, zone maps, after-harvest requirements, hunter orange rules, bag limits and weapon restrictions, Hunterizer continues to expand its mission of putting California hunting regulations and seasons at hunters’ fingertips.
The California 2026–2027 season updates are available now in the Hunterizer app, which can be downloaded in App Store for iPhones and Google Play Store for Android phones. For more information visit: https://hunterizer.com/apps/seasons/
