New partnership with the International Hunter Education Association-USA aims to bridge the gap between completing hunter education and confidently planning a first hunt
Hunterizer has become an official industry partner of the International Hunter Education Association-USA (IHEA-USA), bringing the hunting regulations app together with one of the country’s leading organizations supporting hunter education instructors, agencies, and new hunters.
The partnership, announced September 21, reflects a shared goal: helping hunters remain safe, legal, responsible, and confident after they complete their required hunter education.
Hunter Education Is Only the Beginning
Passing hunter education is an important milestone, but for a new hunter it can also be the beginning of a much more complicated process.
Where can you actually hunt? What species are currently in season? Which hunting zone are you standing in? What weapon is legal? What are the shooting hours and bag limits? And if you have never hunted before, who can help you make the transition from completing a course to actually going into the field?
That gap between education and a hunter’s first real experience is something both Hunterizer and IHEA-USA are working to address. IHEA-USA says hunter education programs certify more than 550,000 students annually, supported by more than 32,000 instructors, many of them volunteers. Its programs and resources emphasize safe, responsible, and ethical hunting.
IHEA-USA also operates Hunters Connect, an educational resource specifically intended to help bridge the period between graduating from hunter education, purchasing a first license, and going on a first hunt.
Where Hunterizer Fits In
Hunterizer was built around a simple practical question: “What can I legally hunt at this location, on this date?”
Instead of requiring hunters to work through an entire state regulation booklet every time they need an answer, the Hunterizer app organizes information including season dates, hunting zones, bag limits, shooting hours, legal weapons, and other regulations based on a hunter’s location.
Hunterizer currently covers 11 states: California, Georgia, Idaho, Michigan, Montana, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin, with more states under development.
For a new hunter, that information can be particularly valuable. Hunter education provides the foundation, but understanding how dozens of season dates, zones, species-specific restrictions, and other rules come together on a particular day and place can still be challenging.
“Hunter education gives someone the foundation to hunt safely and legally, but that first season on their own is where a lot of new hunters lose confidence,” IHEA-USA Executive Director Alex Baer said in announcing the partnership, adding that Hunterizer can help close that gap.
Working With the People Who Teach New Hunters
The partnership is also an opportunity for Hunterizer to work more closely with hunter education instructors themselves.
Instructors see firsthand where students struggle and what questions remain after the course is finished. That experience can help guide the development of tools intended specifically for hunters making the transition from the classroom to the field.
Hunterizer already displays hunting mentors as a separate map layer, helping hunters find people who can assist them as they gain practical experience. Looking forward, the company is exploring additional resources such as public-land information, vegetation maps, and hunter education instructor listings.
As part of the new IHEA-USA partnership, Hunterizer has also created a dedicated program for hunter education instructors and is supporting the IHEA-USA EduTech Catalyst Fund.

The long-term goal is bigger than making regulations easier to read.
